Self Awareness - Connection to Empowered Self

We human beings are a fantabulous creation of the divine on this earth but we still suffer a lot. We come on this earth with attributes of the diamond but live here just as a rough stone.

You know why?

‘Our true-self is like a diamond hidden under many layers of ignorance’. ~ Sangeeta Sharma

Let me share my story to explain it further:

“Coming from the time, 1987 when I heard the word “Computer” in one of the TV episodes, out of curiosity I immediately did a three month computer course. Hardly had I imagined that life was going to give me its first test when my father lost his job due to the sudden closure of industry in which he was working at one of the senior positions. He was the only bread earner of the house and I being the eldest amongst my siblings, started my first venture “IT training Company” in Chandigarh at the age of 20 to support him and this way entered the IT Industry by responding to the tough situation with courage. After that, I had worn many caps in this industry from Computer trainer, teacher, lecturer, project manager, ORACLE DBA, Oracle trainer in Infosys and CEO of my own Company “Datum Solutions”. Despite all kinds of challenges life had thrown at me, I had achieved whatever I aspired for, in my professional life.

In the year 2014, I was planning to take my company to the next level and was planning expansion. But something shifted within me and I had a realization that while running in the race of life I had lost myself. I experienced a big void or emptiness within so much so that I dropped the idea of expansion of my company and decided to find myself. In the quest of finding myself, I learnt energy healing, NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), Clinical Hypnotherapy and became a certified Life Coach. While learning, all these modalities also healed me to a level that I was experiencing a totally new Sangeeta. Now Sangeeta Version 2.0 was emotionally stronger, more fulfilled and with a new passion to help others to achieve the same.

I have shared all my experiences and insights which helped me in my transformation journey in my book “ Four Layers to your dream life” which is available on Amazon and all leading international portals.

From my story, you can understand that I was professionally flourishing in my life and had achieved whatever I aspired for but still was not happy or feeling fulfilled from within. We as human beings think that we know each and everything about ourselves and we are fully self-aware but this is the biggest misconception which keeps human beings away from our real empowered self. Due to ignorance, we just go with the flow of life, work hard, achieve everything and expect the real magic to happen. But when it does not happen and by GOD’s grace you get a chance to reflect back, then you feel the pain of — lack of self-awareness, void or emptiness.

Lack of self-awareness leads to frustration, confusion and further can lead to wrong choices or decisions in life. The main reason behind this lack of self-awareness is the lack of self-acceptance. One cannot have self-awareness without self-acceptance.

Let me tell you one story from my childhood around the time when I was eight years old:

“One afternoon when my mother was resting after completing all the household chores, I picked a bottle of nail paint from her cupboard and started applying it on my nails. Hardly had I applied it on three nails, the nail paint bottle slipped from my hand and broke into pieces. I got frightened and hid behind the Sofa. As it was a summer afternoon and the floor was very cool behind the sofa, I fell fast asleep. After some time when my mother got up and could not find me anywhere at home, she got worried and told everyone about me being missing from home. My father also came back from the office on hearing this. When no one was able to locate me, they decided to inform the police. My father asked my mother to get a photograph of me which she had kept in a cupboard behind the sofa. When my mother moved the sofa to open a cupboard, she found me sleeping there. Fortunately, I was Lost and Found…”

From the above story, I want to explain that an eight-year child had fear of being scolded and of non-acceptance from others, despite the fact that’s her parents.

Due to this fear of non-acceptance, we fear to face our mistakes and we fear to face our weaknesses therefore we tend to hide our real-self from society and start projecting what we are not. In this pursuit of false-projection of self, just to have acceptance from people around us or the society, we get disconnected from our real empowered self.

I would also like to share my client coaching experience. He came to me with the presenting issue that he does not like to go to public gatherings or social functions. But when I worked with him, I found he had a belief “I have to change myself for others in order to be loved or be lovable” which indicates a lack of self-acceptance. After going through my complete coaching process , now,he is doing brilliantly in his life and loves to share his feedback.

WHY SELF-AWARENESS IS IMPORTANT?

We all seek success and happiness in each aspect of our life but still, we lack one thing or the other and we feel stuck. When we lack self-awareness, we don’t see the real reason why we are stuck? Rather we have excuses and our ego to protect our self-image, which we have formed over the years. Most of the time we lie to ourselves, which is really a big block in our progress and self-improvement. If we want to change our lives for our betterment, first we need to change, then only we can bring the required change in our life. But before making a change in self, we need to know “What change actually is required?”

For Example:

If your car develops some fault and you take it to a workshop, the first thing you will tell the mechanic is what problem you are facing while driving the car, then based on your description of the problem, the mechanic will try to find the real fault in the car. Once he finds the fault, then only he will be able to repair it.

Life Coach works with you in a similar way and facilitates your process of self-awareness in a very simple but effective way. Self-awareness is mandatory when you are seeking self-improvement or you want to bring some change in your life. To bring required change, you need solutions to move from your current state to the desired state but solutions will depend on the level of your self-awareness and self-acceptance.

Wishing you all the Best
